Rhodes and Stafford, Inc. was originally established by Bill Rhodes in September 1976 as the W.H. Rhodes Company. The agency was headquartered in Concord, NC, and served the HVAC/R Wholesale Distributor Market in the Carolinas and Southern Virginia. Prior to the formation of the W.H. Rhodes Company, Bill worked in sales with the Mueller Brass Company in New York, New Jersey, and Eastern Pennsylvania. After several years in outside sales, he was hired as the National Sales Manager for Hartell Pumps, setting up a national network of reps and distributors selling Hartell Condensate and Ice Machine Pumps.
In 1984, Bill merged his agency with the Edwin Carlson Company, forming Rhodes and Carlson, Inc. Bill and Ed worked together as partners covering the Carolinas and Virginia until June of 1988, when they hired Rick Stafford to come on board as a salesman. Rick had spent the previous 2 years as a factory salesperson working for Halstead Industries, a manufacturer of copper tube, pipe insulation, and line sets, calling on both HVAC/R and Plumbing Wholesale Distributors in North and South Carolina.
In June of 1992, Ed Carlson retired, making his interest in Rhodes and Carlson available for purchase by Rick Stafford. It was at that time that Rhodes and Stafford, Inc. was formed. Shortly thereafter, the Corporate Headquarters moved from Concord to Greensboro, NC where a warehousing and office facility was established. Over the years, the territory covered by the company was expanded to include Northern Virginia, DC, Maryland, and Delaware.
In 2005, Bill Rhodes retired, and the remaining interest in Rhodes and Stafford was purchased by Rick Stafford. In June of 2012, Rhodes and Stafford acquired a very well established agency by the name of Chadwick & Associates, and happily made Craig Chadwick a member of the Rhodes and Stafford Team.
